This puppy did exactly what you sometimes have to do—take a chance and hope for the best. The stray dog noticed one of the car doors was open as she was loitering at a petrol station. The dog then made a split-second choice that would alter the course of her life: she approached a parked car and got inside. Once inside, she plopped down on the seat and settled down.

A few seconds later, Bill Shaver, who was shocked to learn that he had accidently picked up a hairy tiny hitchhiker, arrived the car.
Shaver had just made a brief pit break at the gas station and had not anticipated anything to occur while he was using the toilet and returning to his car.

But you never know what life has in store for you, as Shaver discovered.

The stray pup instantly won Shaver’s heart and he was flooded with feelings of pity and compassion.

It was clear from the small pup’s pitifully thin appearance that he didn’t want to leave the security of the automobile.

Shaver made the decision to help the pup since, based on her appearance, she seemed to be alone herself in the world.

Shaver asked his wife through text whether he could bring the dog home with him.

Shaver was unsurprised when his wife agreed right away since they have a history of saving animals that are in need.
When Shaver arrived home with the puppy, the stray was hesitant to get out of the car.
Shaver gently picked her up and carried her to the backyard in his arms to make things easier for her.

Shaver and his wife gave River a name, and they were ecstatic to welcome her into their family.

The first step was to make sure River felt at ease with her new siblings because the parents already had three other rescue pups.

River’s new family members were introduced to her gradually, and they made sure she felt comfortable with them since they didn’t want her to be terrified or feel uncomfortable.
Once they were sure River didn’t feel frightened, they carried her inside and began bathing her.
The poor girl was covered in filth, blood, and ticks, but after taking a shower, she looked much better and was eager for a delicious meal and a restful nap.
After River had a chance to recover and adapt, Shaver brought her to the vet for a check-up since she had severe wounds on her neck and was unhealthily thin.

The veterinarian identified River as having heartworms and tapeworms and gave medicine to help her become well again.

After that, River merely had to get used to her new way of life.
And the small youngster adapted to her new home and family quite quickly.
In spite of her initial trepidation, River bravely explored her new house on the morning she moved in. It was clear that the small girl would be OK.
She leaned on Shaver and his wife anytime she needed affection and comfort since she had total confidence in them.

River is now thriving.
She appreciates her parents for saving her and giving her a new life, and she likes playing with her puppy siblings.

She is gradually coming out of her shell each day, and it is obvious that she will have a wonderful future full of support and affection.

River definitely made the perfect door choice when she entered!
