Like humans, dogs are known to bond with each other and stay loyal right up until the very end. That’s exactly what transpired between a dog in Texas and his littermate sister.

A call came into Animal Control Officers in Kingsville, Texas, recently a few dead dog on the side of a highway.

When authorities arrived on the scene, they witnessed something they called “a heart-wrenching sight.”

The dead dog’s body was there but so was another animal. Standing over his sister’s remains was her brother, never leaving her side and expecting something to bring his belated sister back.

“This boy wasn’t getting to let anyone mess together with his sister,” Kingsville Kleberg Health Department Animal Control & Care Center shared on Facebook. “Our ACOs had a tough time convincing him everything was getting to be alright and that they were there to assist him.”

The dogs, Catahoula mixes, were side by side on side of the road. Eventually, officers were ready to lure the dog away. They named him Guardian and are keeping him on a stray hold for four days.

If nobody claims Guardian, who is believed to be between 6 and 12 months aged , an adoption has been scheduled.

“He’s still a touch confused about what happened, but a minimum of he’s now during a safe place with fresh cool water and belly filled with food,” Kingsville Kleberg updated to Facebook.
