STRAY DOG KEEPS SNEAKING IN TO STORE TO STEAL STUFFED UNICORN, SO OFFICER BUYS IT FOR HIM

M

any dogs have a favorite toy, a unique plaything to which they get emotionally attached. These toys can provide our pets a lot of delight and comfort. However, wandering dogs who are left to their own devices frequently lack any toys. When a street dog fell in love with a plush unicorn, he knew he had to have it — and what occurred next changed his life forever.
A Dollar General store in Kenansville, North Carolina, contacted Duplin County Animal Control last week about an odd larceny situation.
A stray dog has been breaking into their store repeatedly, snatching the same stuffed purple unicorn item each time.
The dog seems to be so enamored with one particular toy that he would go to any length to have it. Before animal services were alerted, he allegedly returned five times to steal the unicorn.

“He went straight for the unicorn, the same one every time,” Joe Newburn, supervisor at Duplin County Animal Services, told People.

“It was so strange, one of the strangest calls I’ve ever dealt with.”

Samantha Lane, the officer who arrived on the scene to pick up the dog, however, was a good person. She spent $10 of her own money to buy the unicorn for the stray, seeing how much it meant to him.

The dog was taken to animal services and held in custody while officers looked for his owners.

While rewarding a wanted shoplifter with a toy isn’t standard protocol, it was evident that the toy meant the world to this poor dog who had nothing. The dog clutched to his plush animal at intake, which was now his.

The officer’s thoughtful gesture was not unexpected by her peers.

Newburn told WCTI 12, “This is something she’s always done.” “This isn’t something new for her; it’s just a different dog, but she’s constantly helping animals.”

The cops named the dog Sisu, after a character with a unicorn-like horn and purple mane from the Disney film Raya and the Last Dragon.

Sisu was soon placed for adoption. The story of the dog’s brush with thievery was published by Duplin County Animal Services, which helped his adoption post go viral.

Sisu’s adoption profile describes her as “sassy with other dogs and will not tolerate any backtalk.” “When it comes to people, he is very obedient. “She knows how to sit, lay, and heel, and she adores Dollar General unicorns.”
Sisu clung to his plush unicorn for comfort as he waited for someone to take him home.

Animal control investigators assumed he had a home at one point, which explains why he was so adamant on having the toy.

Newburn told People, “I don’t know of any other reason why he would focus on the unicorn other than the fact that he has one at home.” “It would make more sense if the retailer had called and said he tore open dog food, but not looking for a purple unicorn.”

But, wherever he came from, Sisu has found a loving home: the dog has been adopted by animal services!

Sisu eventually received the joyful ending he deserved after his story went viral. Of course, he’ll be bringing along his beloved unicorn… as well as a few extras. Dollar General has stated that they will be sending more plush unicorns to his adoptive family in celebration of their most famous customer.

They also handed Officer Lane a “special thank you gift” and provided pet food to Duplin County Animal Services.
