They adopt a dog with terminal cancer and make his last months of life the happiest

R

ooselvet was a pit bull dog with a heartbreaking look in his eyes and very lonely. His owners had dropped him off at Chicago Animal Control, with a note justifying his abandonment.

“He has problems urinating”.

When Kelly Michael and Sarah Lauch met him, they were devastated by the despondent and heartbroken dog. They wanted to get him out of that sad place and that cold cage as soon as possible.

“I watched him relax quietly in his cage while all the other dogs barked and jumped to get my attention. He looked so sad and tearful”, Sarah wrote on Facebook.

“His teeth were totally crushed, probably from eating rocks or trying to escape from his cage.

We felt so helpless and sad for him. We immediately tried to find a foster home for him so that we could get him out and get him healthy”, she added.

Fortunately, with the help of the organization “One Tail at a Time”, they were able to take him home.

He didn’t know how comforting it is to be hugged.

Unfortunately, when Roo was examined by a veterinarian, he was diagnosed with end-stage bone cancer and had only a few months to live.

Faced with this dire situation, they decided to give her a real family and make her last days the happiest. Roo would live with Kelly until the end of her days.

Roo doesn’t know that he is sick, so he acts like a normal dog.

They spoil him a lot. He is very happy!

They decided to make a list of last wishes for Roo. These they fulfilled in full: he swam in a lake for the first time. He had ice cream, received therapeutic massages, and even went to eat at Taco Bell.

The list is endless and Roo enjoys every treat as if it really were the last time.

Maybe his time is limited, but love has no limit. For these supportive girls who adopted him, Roo has become a life lesson to cherish every second. That is why they have made the hashtag #LiveLikeRoo (Live like Roo) viral, created a page with his name on it, and the effect on the networks has been overwhelming.

“People have sent me direct messages and fans have invited us to their lake house. Now all the owners are doing things with their dogs”.

Resting like a sweet baby.

Sarah said that while they try to be positive about Roo, they know that the end of the journey will not be easy.

In the midst of a heartbreaking prognosis, they found the beautiful part. And the best way to face it was to give her lots of happiness in her last days.

This is what true happiness looks like.

“Even if we have known him for such a short time, the mere thought of having to put him down at some point makes us cry”.

“Although Roo is only a few months old, we hope that #LiveLikeRoo will inspire everyone now and forever”, Read the Facebook page.

You can see in this tribute how Roo enjoyed every second of his last days. It’s hard not to cry!
